About Us
Wertman Development begain in 1961 by our founder, Leo Wertman, when he built our first project: a 2 level retail/residential building in the 4000 block Main Street. From there, Wertman expanded and grew over the years, as Leo built and maintained quality apartment buildings throughout this city while raising his family in Vancouver. When he passed away in 1985, the control of the company was taken over by his son Joseph.
It was from these building blocks of the Wertman Group set in place by his father, that Joe Wertman catapulted what his father began into the current portfolio. In 1997, Joe took Wertman Investments and development to a new level, investing into commercial leasing with a vision of a modernized Hycroft Medical Building at 16th and Granville. This project saw the transformation of a 50 year old distressed building into high end medical offices with new life, featuring floor to ceiling tinted glass windows, providing modern office space for lease. With this success under his wing, he repeated the process downtown in Coal Harbour with our flagship building, 1199 West Pender. Now with several other projects past and present, including commercial, medical, residential and retail properties, Joe maintains and manages the Wertman Group of companies with his son Jason

The Company
Wertman Development Corporation has been dedicated to the development and operation of quality residential rental apartment buildings since 1961. Out latest development project is the construction of a luxury condominium building with approx 5000 square feet of retail on the ground floor and 10 boutique style living quarters. Situated at the corner of 12th Avenue and Arbutus, this new construction will feature large sized floor plans, high ceilings, nine foot doors and high end finishings. Contempary style and design will be similar to our recently built project, the Deseo Apartment building, at 2226 West 12th Avenue of which we designed and constructed in 2003.
We are also involved in a renovation of a 47 unit apartment building in North Vancouver. Harbourview Terraces, built in 1977, will soon feature brand new kitchens, bathrooms and common areas, as well as upgrades to all water pipes and building services. The new rental units will be fitted with brand new appliances, including dishwashers, available for occupancy in the new year.
Our next project is the construction of a 91 unit Luxury senior care facility on the 600 block of west 41st Ave.(www.leowertmanresidences.com) We will offer luxury suites with full care, meals, housekeeping and a variety of regularly planned social events. Currently in the design and preconstruction stages in tandem with the new Oakridge redevelopment plan. Look for Leo Wertman Residences in the Winter of 2013.
