Position Overview

As a key player in our Utilization Management team, you will be responsible for:

• Utilization Management & Quality Screening: Conduct thorough reviews for assigned patients, applying MCG criteria to ensure appropriate admissions and continued stays.
• Clinical Documentation Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and collaborate with relevant departments to enhance patient care.
• At-Risk Population Monitoring: Utilize approved screening tools to identify at-risk patients and follow established reporting procedures.
• Resource Management: Monitor length of stay (LOS) and ancillary resource use, driving continuous improvement.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Medical Director and Triad Team to address cases and issues, ensuring seamless communication across the healthcare continuum.
• Quality Assurance: Use quality screens to identify potential issues and forward findings to the Quality Department.
• Delay Management: Facilitate the removal of delays in patient care and document any existing delays for reporting.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should meet the following qualifications:

• Licensure: Current Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of three years in clinical settings, with recent experience in case management, utilization management, or discharge planning in a high-volume acute care hospital.
• Certifications: Case Management certification is a plus.
• Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
• Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills relevant to the utilization review process.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with MCG criteria, ICD10 coding, and Medicare regulatory requirements.
• Independence: Ability to work autonomously while demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
