We encourage you to learn more about SFBU by reviewing our strategic plan at Position Overview: The student assistant(s) will provide support for the Academic Librarian with various projects and help visitors find books, research materials, and other information sources for their research projects and papers. Support Librarian with sorting, categorization, and cataloging of material. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Staff the Library Information Desk from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Monday - Friday Check in and check out books. Assist SFBU students and faculty in using the library resources. Assist in locating books or finding material online. Sort and shelve books according to the Library of Congress Classification System. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: A High school diploma is required. Must be a full-time SFBU student enrolled in a summer class. Some experience in customer service is preferred. Basic computer literacy. Outstanding organizational skills. Attention to detail and good problem-solving ability. Exceptional interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be punctual and reliable. Commitment to excellent customer service. Maintain a professional and welcoming presence. Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and Google Docs. Demonstrated strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice. Work Environment & Physical Demands: Job duties typically performed in an office environment. Physical demands may include lifting up to 20 lbs, bending, sitting, driving.
