Offshore Welder Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Offshore Welder to perform welding and fabrication tasks on offshore oil platforms, rigs, or vessels. The ideal candidate will have experience in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, and be familiar with offshore safety procedures and environmental conditions. This position requires a strong understanding of welding standards, the ability to work in confined spaces and at heights, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality craftsmanship under challenging offshore conditions.

Offshore Welder Responsibilities

• Perform welding and metal fabrication tasks on offshore platforms and vessels, including structural and pipeline welding.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding procedures.
• Conduct inspections and ensure all welds meet quality and safety standards (AWS, ABS, DNV, etc.).
• Maintain and repair offshore infrastructure and equipment as needed.
• Operate and maintain welding tools and equipment in compliance with safety and maintenance procedures.
• Follow all offshore safety regulations, including the use of PPE and confined space protocols.
• Assist with rigging, cutting, and fitting of materials as required.
• Participate in daily safety meetings and contribute to hazard assessments and toolbox talks.
• Report progress and any welding defects or equipment issues to supervisors.
• Support other offshore personnel with general maintenance and operations when welding duties are not required.

Offshore Welder Position Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; technical certification in welding preferred.
• 3+ years of welding experience, with at least 1 year in an offshore or maritime environment.
• Proficient in SMAW, MIG, TIG, and flux core welding processes.
• Valid offshore certifications such as:
  • BOSIET or HUET
  • TWIC card
  • Offshore Medical Certificate
  • Welding certifications (AWS D1.1, ABS, DNV, or equivalent)
• Ability to pass visual and X-ray weld inspections.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with offshore rigging and equipment handling.
• Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in adverse weather conditions.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and safety awareness.
