The Nurse Educator and Infection Control position coordinates nursing staff orientation, assessing competencies and providing ongoing education, in consultation with the Director of Nursing. Responsibilities extend to infection control education, ensuring facility-wide compliance with regulatory requirements and conducting surveillance for infectious agents. Additionally, the role involves implementing infection prevention processes and collaborating with organizational leaders to design and implement effective infection control programs.

• Develops, coordinates, and maintains comprehensive education programs for nursing and direct care team members, ensuring clinical competency and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Acts as a resource for nurses regarding clinical practice and infection control, providing ongoing education and support.
• Conducts surveillance, statistical analysis, and reporting of infections and communicable diseases, recommending corrective actions and policy revisions to improve outcomes.
• Collaborates with nursing management to comply with regulatory standards and develops written policies and procedures pertaining to infection control.
• Monitors patient infection rates, conducts clinical rounds, and maintains surveillance activities to ensure compliance with infection control guidelines and to respond effectively to emerging conditions.

Education

• Graduation from an accredited college with a degree in Nursing or its equivalency in other healthcare related field.

Experience

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a nurse
• Experience in providing nursing education or infection control is preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Current license in the state of practice or possess a multi-state compact license recognized by the state to practice professional nursing
