The Role:

As a Buyer you will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. Responsible for actively participating in the development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and collaborate with suppliers or internal partners. The work is of a sophisticated nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and judgment.

  • You will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services.

  • Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and interface with suppliers or internal stakeholders.
  • \n
  • Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and a high level of independent judgment.
  • \n
  • Partner with Program Managers to represent purchasing and communicate program requirements/vehicle line overview.
  • \n
  • Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution
  • \n

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
    \n
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, related field, or equivalent work experience
  • \n
  • 2+ years relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics, or product development
  • \n
  • Experience with commodities required
  • \n
  • High level of capability to work independently
  • \n
  • Highly proficient oral and written communication skills
  • \n
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
  • \n
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • \n
  • Negotiation skills
  • \n
  • Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time
  • \n
  • Capable of interpreting contracts
  • \n
  • Demonstrated global business skills
  • \n
  • Ability to travel 5-10% of the time domestically and internationally.

  • Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related advanced degree a plus
  • \n
  • Cost analysis, or manufacturing experience
  • \n
  • Automotive industry experience
  • \n
  • Knowledge of materials management
  • \n
  • Capable of interpreting market data
  • \n
  • Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents
  • \n
  • Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
  • \n
